Here's another song to make it through these posts. | |
This was a free choice project, and we had a list of ideas and medias we could choose from. What stood out to me the most on the list was "up close and personal." When I had read it, I instantly thought of close up pictures of people's face expressions. I had tried to find a different project to do though, because I thought it was too cliche and that everyone was going to do it. But I kept going back to the faces. I thought that was interesting because I've only drawn one detailed face before, and that was my freshman year; I'm a senior now. I attempted this project anyway; I figured if it was a project I really wanted to do, it would turn out well.
I didn't draw as many faces as I'd like though, so I hope to draw more once I get caught up with all of my other projects.
Here's what I did:
I either took pictures of people (with permission of course) or had them send me one, and then I would crop it and edit it on the computer, making the photo either black and white or the color I wish to get close to. I also made the picture the same size as I wanted to draw it, because it helped me compare the images together more easily. This first one is the first detailed face I've ever drawn since freshman year (we've practice some in other art classes, but either just parts of the face, or the outlining). These are all done with prisma colored pencils.

I like this next one a lot, because there is more detail and she's actually showing expression. I want to do more like these. Especially because she didn't know I was taking a picture at the very moment; she probably thought I was going to wait until she stopped laughing.
