This year has been a great year. I have come to really enjoy sitting with the people at my art table and love how everyone in this class is super wonderful at art. We all have really different styles, so seeing everyone improve and do their best work was really cool. Also seeing all of the different mediums used by everyone was interesting-some I have never even heard of before. For me, finding out my concentration was really hard. At first I just "whatever" it and was just going to do something I was comfortable with, designs, but then I tried something I really enjoyed. That was drawing faces. I had only drawn a face once before during my freshman year. It was a self-portrait, and it didn't even look anywhere close to what I had looked like. But I had thought my concentration should be something I love, and I love people. So I gave it a shot. My first one was this one, and it turned out a lot better than what I thought it would. Then I decided to stay with it and did many more. I had a lot of fun with it, and I loved drawing faces of people I knew. It made me even happier when they actually looked like who they were suppose to. However, I found it really funny how many comments I'd get during the process of coloring the faces.. before they were done and actually looked like something. I'd color on a piece of paper and people would say, "Are you really coloring that green paper green?" Or they'd look at the facial features I hadn't finished yet or put any shading into yet and ask what I was drawing, and when I'd tell them, they'd just be like, "oh...". It was funny.
I think I didn't really improve much this year. I wish I had tried harder, tried more mediums, and actually worked in class, but I slacked way too much. Maybe I'll try some other art classes in college and actually try to improve. At least I found out I liked drawing faces. This was also my first time using color pencil since scribbling in random color books when I was younger and random projects in school. So I also found out that was fun. Thanks for putting up with me this year, Mrs. Rossi! This has been the best class! |
