I don't think I have ever really drawn/painted apples before, but here are a couple of oil paint apples. This first apple was with a brush and I don't think think the top of it looks that bad. The bottom of the apple could use work though; I just didn't finish it because I though it looked really bad. I like where the light bounces off. The smears around the apple were also on purpose because I had accidentally smeared it on one side, so I tried to fix it. With a lot of my other smeared pieces, smearing it had worked, but they also weren't done in paint. So I'd like to fix that as well. I like how the background shows through the apple too. The light to dark contrasts could be better, but once again, I thought it had looked terrible so I stopped trying. I should stop doing that, I just need to be more patient with my art. |
This apple is done with a pallet knife. It isn't very good, and I was going to fix it, but I really liked the blockiness of it. It doesn't really look like an apple at all, but the shape is similar. So if someone were to guess what it was, they may not know. But if someone told them what it was, they might go, "oh, I see it." I kind of like the feel to it. Once again the values could be fixed. There could probably be more darker streaks throughout the apple and the darker spots that are already there could probably be lighter. I could have also let more blue show through and given more value to the top of the apple. |
